Gucci was officially created in 1921, although Guccio Gucci had the idea many years earlier in 1881 while admiring luggage at the hotel he worked at. As the company began to grow leather and other materials became hard to find due to war. In 1947 during WW2 artists had the idea to use Japanese bamboo for bag handles.
